Should I Take My Beauceron to Obedience Classes?

Whether or not you should take your beauceron to an obedience class depends greatly on you and on your beauceron. Before you decide, there are a few things you should know.

Most adult Borzoi (russian wolfhounds) are almost mute. They bark only very rarely. They are gentle, sensitive dogs with gracious house-manners and a natural respect for humans. Their quiet nature makes them an ideal pet for families with children.

First, there are many differences between a beauceron obedience class instructor and a beauceron trainer. A beauceron trainer is a person who is trained to teach your beauceron to do certain specific things in a one-on-one situation. An obedience class instructor, on the other hand, is a person who specializes in teaching you how to better train your own beauceron to do whatever you want it to do.

The Skye Terrier's origins are connected with a centuries old shipwreck. Early in the 1600's a Spanish ship wrecked on the Island of Skye in the Scottish Hebrides. Some of the survivors of the shipwreck were Maltese dogs that mated with the local terriers, creating a new and unique breed.

Another important thing that you should keep in mind about beauceron obedience class is that there will be several DOGS and owners there. You and your beauceron will get an opportunity to socialize and learn from others. However, you will not get as much one-on-one attention as you would if a beauceron trainer came to your home.

The smallest breed of dog recognized by the American Kennel Club is the Chihuahua, which stands six to nine inches at the top of the shoulders and generally weighs two to six pounds. Their size makes them excellent travel companions.

If you do decide to take your beauceron to obedience classes, be sure to do some research first. There are a few things to consider. You'll want to find a class that is held on days and times that fit your schedule, first of all. Also, you may want to find a class that is specifically for beaucerons that are the same size or age as yours. A small beauceron might not benefit from a class where the other DOGS are larger, just as a large DOG may not benefit from a class full of small DOGS.

The Lundehund is a breed which has lived solely on two islands in the north of Norway. The Lundehund has sever extra toes and paw cushions! That makes it excellent as a climbing dog, bred for rugged terrain. It also has the unusual ability to close its ears.

When you think you've found a class, meet with the instructor. Don't be afraid to ask questions and, if possible, observe a class or two before enrolling. You may also want to ask the instructor if your entire family is welcome in the class. If space permits, most good instructors will not only agree to that, they'll usually recommend it.

The diminutive tibetan spaniel, with his feather-like tail, may look a bit like other spaniels, but the breed is actually not a spaniel at all, but more closely related to some combination of the shih tzu, pug, pekingese and Japanese chin.

By following these simple steps, you should be able to find an obedience class that both you and your beauceron can benefit from and enjoy.

The boxer breed was so named for his manner of fighting. As opposed to biting, like most dogs would, a boxer will actually begin a fight by "punching" with its front paws, just liek a human boxer.

The Schipperke, or "little captain", is generally thought of as being solid black in the USA. However, they do actually come in other colors. The reason they are commonly thought to only be black, is that the black variety is the only type currently recognized by the AKC.
