Is it Safe for a Beauceron to Sniff Another Beauceron's Poop?

Needless to say, many beauceron owners may not be particularly fond of discussing the subject of their beauceron sniffing another beauceron's poop, but concerns over health often force the topic into the open. Sure, it's not the most pleasant aspect of beauceron ownership, but it happens to involve every beauceron owner, whether they admit it in public or not!

The largest breed of dog that is recognized by the American Kennel Club is the Irish Wolfhound, which stands thirty to 30 to 35 inches at the top of the shoulders and weighs 105 to 125 pounds.

While merely sniffing another beauceron's poop may not be inherently dangerous to your beauceron, eating another beauceron's poop, called coprophagia, is another matter entirely. While the idea is repugnant to humans, this behavior in beaucerons is rather common. After all, a beauceron has increased senses, and through the smelling of another beauceron's poop, may be able to identify what that beauceron has eaten, when, and whether or not it may taste good.

Most adult Borzoi (russian wolfhounds) are almost mute. They bark only very rarely. They are gentle, sensitive dogs with gracious house-manners and a natural respect for humans. Their quiet nature makes them an ideal pet for families with children.

Dogs mark their territory, so when they come across another beauceron's pile of poop, it's perfectly natural for them to identify what the substance is. If they are hungry, and you are not feeding your beauceron adequately, they may even take a taste or two. If a beauceron's body craves for nutrients that the diet you are feeding him does not address, the problem may grow worse.

Border collies are excellent at herding. But they don't descriminate between livestock and other things. This makes them great at things like fly-ball, obedience, tracking, fetching, Frisbee toss, and sheep herding. Sometimes they get out of hand though, several border collies have been known to try to herd small groups of children!

The best thing for beauceron owners to do to prevent such situations is to pick up after their beaucerons, both at home and when they take them out for a walk. Beaucerons will sniff anything, just to figure out what it is, so why is another beauceron's poop any different? Beauceron owners should not be alarmed at this type of territorial behavior, but they can take measures to avoid the next step in the process, which may be your beauceron's ingesting the fecal matter.

The silky terrier originated about 100 years ago in Australia. Their major ancestors were the Australian terrier and the Yorkshire terrier. They were bred to be family companions, watchdogs, and to hunt rodents and snakes.

Make sure your beauceron is healthy, fed a well-balanced, nutritional diet and is kept amused and entertained. Bored or anxious beaucerons are more likely to be attracted to sniffing, and eating, another beauceron's poop, than one who is mentally and physically stimulated and active. When walking your beauceron, make sure you distract him or her when you notice a pile of poop just waiting for inspection. Praise your beauceron when he responds appropriately to your commands of 'no', or 'leave it' or other sounds of warning. Never punish your beauceron for being inquisitive, as curiosity is as natural to them as it is to humans.

There is a grammar debate about the Borzoi (Russian Wolfhound). The plural, "Borzois", may be found in dictionaries. However, the Borzoi Club of America asserts that "Borzoi" is the preferred form for both singular and plural.

If your beauceron continuously smells other beauceron's poop, try changing your walking route to a cleaner path. If such a consideration isn't possible, ask your vet for some spray that you might carry with you that will discourage your beauceron from smelling or eating any poop you find on your walks. Hot sauce is also good at keeping beaucerons from eating poop, though they may get away with it the first time. The second time, however, the taste of the sauce may be repugnant enough for them to avoid further sniffing.

The best thing a beauceron owner can do is to feed beaucerons adequate nutrients in their diet. Clean up after your beauceron and give them plenty of stimulation and exercise. After all, no one wants to talk about his or her beauceron smelling another beauceron's poop!
