How To Stop My Beauceron from Fighting with Other DOGS

If you have a beauceron with some behavior or territorial issues, you may have your work cut out for you when it comes to teaching your beauceron to stop fighting with other DOGS. Keep in mind before you go any further, that in many cases, aggressive behavior in a beauceron is a result of fear.

The Saluki is represented in Sumarian carvings dated back to 7000 B.C. It is said that Whenever one sees the word "dog" in the Bible it means the Saluki, because the Saluki is believed to be among the oldest dog breeds.

Work with your beauceron, first on obedience basics, using commands such as sit, stay, heel, and 'no'. Don't punish your beauceron, though reinforce and reward good behavior. When that step has been accomplished, take your beauceron out for walks along quiet neighborhood streets where interaction with other people or DOGS isn't likely. Get your beauceron used to being around others, without them being too close.

Yorkshire terriers are very tenacious. In fact, A 12-pound Yorkshire Terrier named Oliver once defended an elderly woman from an 80-pound Akita. The woman escaped to safety and Oliver the yorkie survived with only nine stitches.

Carry DOG treats in your pocket to immediately reward your beauceron for good behavior and responding to your commands. When approaching other DOGS or people, place yourself between your beauceron and others. Grasp the leash tightly and pull the DOG leash sideways as the DOG approaches, keeping your beauceron at a distance. Pulling his or her leash sideways will keep your beauceron unbalanced, while allowing you greater control.

Chow chows were originally bred as food, just like cows. However, in some cases, they were also used as hunters and helpers. They were also used to keep people warm under cold conditions by cuddling up to people with their soft, warm fur.

Carry something that will distract your beauceron when he or she sees another DOG approaching, but don't yell or scold your beauceron to behave before the other people even near you. Maintain an even pace, always talking to your beauceron in low, soothing tones, and urge him to respond to you instead of approaching DOGS or people. Reward him or her immediately with a treat when he makes eye contact with you.

The doberman pinscher breed was created in the 1860's by a man named Louis Doberman. Mr. Doberman was a German tax-collector. He needed a dog to protect him from angry people while he worked. To this day, dobermans are excellent guard dogs.

Other people dealing with difficult situations like beauceron aggression often introduce their beauceron to a passive pooch in a new location. This will alleviate any need for territoriality with your beauceron, and the non-aggressive temperament of the other beauceron may serve to teach your beauceron that others beaucerons don't always imply a threat. Of course, have the other beauceron owner holding tightly to their beauceron and remain calm and unthreatening as well.

The Schipperke, or "little captain", is generally thought of as being solid black in the USA. However, they do actually come in other colors. The reason they are commonly thought to only be black, is that the black variety is the only type currently recognized by the AKC.

Be aware of the first signs or signals of aggression in your beauceron toward others. Staring at an approaching DOG or person, hackles raised, and stiff legs and tail should alert you that your beauceron is in an aggressive mode. Calmly give the approaching DOGS or people plenty of room while speaking to your beauceron in upbeat and soothing tones, and then reward your beauceron after the brief meeting has passed.

The largest breed of dog that is recognized by the American Kennel Club is the Irish Wolfhound, which stands thirty to 30 to 35 inches at the top of the shoulders and weighs 105 to 125 pounds.

The key to changing any behavior in a beauceron is patience. New lessons won't be learned overnight, and may take days, or even weeks, to see signs of progress. Reassure your beauceron that he or she is loved and make sure you lavish them with plenty of attention after each outing. However, if your beauceron continues to express aggressive behavior after all attempts by you to correct such behavior have failed, consider taking your beauceron to an obedience class that specializes in aggressive beauceron behavior.

When it comes to collies there is some debate about the smooth-coat collie. Some breed organizations consider the smooth-coat and rough-coat dogs to be variations of the same breed. Others consider them to be completely seperate.

Male Irish wolfhounds are usually at least 32 to 34 inches tall and females are usually around 30 inches tall. This makes the Irish wolfhound the tallest breed. Although a few other dogs, such as the great dane, come close to equalling that height.

Most adult Borzoi (russian wolfhounds) are almost mute. They bark only very rarely. They are gentle, sensitive dogs with gracious house-manners and a natural respect for humans. Their quiet nature makes them an ideal pet for families with children.
