Do Those Invisible Fences Work with Beaucerons?

Invisible electric fences can work with some beaucerons. However, they are not a good substitute for an owner's supervision. There are several reasons for that.

Pekingese dogs were sacred to the emperors of China for more than 2,000 years. They are one of the oldest breeds of dogs in the world. Commoners in Imperial China were forbidden to own Pekingese dogs.

First of all, most invisible fences work because they detect a signal from a special collar on the beauceron. If the collar falls off or the batteries in the collar die without the owner's knowledge then the beauceron can easily escape.

The bedlington terrier, a large, unique looking breed, is often described as looking like a lamb on a leash. This is probably because it has fur with a wooly texture. As a result of this fur type, the bedlington does not shed.

Another problem is that some beaucerons may see something outside the fence line that gets them overly excited, such as a small animal. The beauceron might break through the invisible fence line when they are in an extremely excited state and then, after the feeling wears off, they might not want to come back because of the invisible fence.

The Schipperke, or "little captain", is generally thought of as being solid black in the USA. However, they do actually come in other colors. The reason they are commonly thought to only be black, is that the black variety is the only type currently recognized by the AKC.

Believe it or not, the most common problem with electric invisible fences is not trying to keep the individual beauceron in. The biggest problem is actually trying to keep other things out. Since the invisible fences work based on an electric impulse from one particular beauceron's collar, they do nothing to keep other neighborhood DOGS out of the yard. For that matter, they also don't prevent wildlife, such as raccoons or coyotes, from coming into your beauceron's environment either.

There is a grammar debate about the Borzoi (Russian Wolfhound). The plural, "Borzois", may be found in dictionaries. However, the Borzoi Club of America asserts that "Borzoi" is the preferred form for both singular and plural.

Some places don't allow standard fences, such as wood or chain link. In those instances, an invisible fence may be the only alternative. If your beauceron is going to be supervised in the yard then an invisible fence may be fine. However, there is no substitute for a standard fence when it comes to keeping other animals out. If you can have a standard fence then you should have one. That will protect not only your beauceron, but also the rest of the family.

When it comes to collies there is some debate about the smooth-coat collie. Some breed organizations consider the smooth-coat and rough-coat dogs to be variations of the same breed. Others consider them to be completely seperate.
