Do Beaucerons Get Along With Cats?

Obviously, some beaucerons and cats can and do get along, as there are many households where both beaucerons and cats coexist peacefully. However, all animals are individuals and have individual responses, so introducing a specific cat to a specific beauceron can sometimes be a challenge.

Basset hounds are fabulous at hunting and they make wonderful companion dogs. However, even with those great qualities, basset hounds are horrible swimmers! Their legs are simply too small to keep their heavy, long bodies afloat properly.

The easiest way to help ensure that your beauceron and cat will get along is for you to adopt a beauceron and a cat that have already been living with the opposite species at some point.

The basenji, an African wolf dog, is the only breed of dog that cannot bark. Instead of barking, it makes an odd yodel-like noise. Due to this fact, the basenji is also sometimes known as an African barkless dog.

Its also important to remember that many species of DOGS have a very strong instinct to hunt prey. In such cases, it will probably take more time to get your DOG and cat to be friends, rather than hunter and hunted, but it is usually possible if you have the patience.

Pekingese dogs are quite small. This worked out well for their ancient masters, who were ancient Chinese royalty. These royal masters used to carry the peke dogs along in the sleeves of their royal robes.

One way to get a beauceron and cat used to each other is to put one in a crate, usually the cat, and bring it into the room where the other is present. Then you can reward both animals for being calm in each others presence and you will not be dealing with the potential for a fight.

Rhodesian ridgebacks have an actual ridge along the top of their backs. The ridge is made up of forward-growing hairs. This ridge gives the rhodesian ridgeback a unique and easily recognizable look.

Its also important not to punish your pets. If you punish one pet for going after the other then that generally just makes the pet more careful about not letting you catch them, it doesnt actually stop the behavior.

Inbreeding causes about 3 out of every 10 dalmations suffer from some sort of hearing loss. The good news is that, like deaf people, they can easily be taught to recognize words in sign language and still make excellent companions.

By having some patience, knowing the traits of the individual pet and rewarding the good behavior, while ignoring the bad, most beaucerons and cats are capable of, if not loving each other, at least tolerating each other.

Border collies are excellent at herding. But they don't descriminate between livestock and other things. This makes them great at things like fly-ball, obedience, tracking, fetching, Frisbee toss, and sheep herding. Sometimes they get out of hand though, several border collies have been known to try to herd small groups of children!
