Breaking a Beauceron's Bad Habits

Conditioning a beauceron to lose bad habits is not the easiest task to overcome. But, it's all in the timing. All beauceron owners should not expect to bring a beauceron home and not have to train it. Beaucerons are verisimilar to people. They have personalities that may compel them to act in a particular way. Consequently, patience coalesced with kind firm discipline is necessary for teaching and old or new beauceron new tricks.

Pharaoh Hounds have an unusual feature. They are the only breed of dogs that "blushes". They do this when they are excited or happy. When they "blush" their ears, nose and eyes will become pink.

Use these tips, tricks and strategies to discourage unacceptable behavior:

When it comes to collies there is some debate about the smooth-coat collie. Some breed organizations consider the smooth-coat and rough-coat dogs to be variations of the same breed. Others consider them to be completely seperate.

1) When your beauceron behaves or commits an intolerable act, give him or her a deep, short growl. The growl is effective because it emulates the canine's mother. Just as the pup's mother would confront the beauceron face to face with the growl, you should do the growl in your puppy's face to discourage the unwanted behavior.

The bedlington terrier, a large, unique looking breed, is often described as looking like a lamb on a leash. This is probably because it has fur with a wooly texture. As a result of this fur type, the bedlington does not shed.

2) If your puppy or new beauceron continues the behavior, repeat the growl. However, the second one should be a little louder but not any longer than the first growl.

The Skye Terrier's origins are connected with a centuries old shipwreck. Early in the 1600's a Spanish ship wrecked on the Island of Skye in the Scottish Hebrides. Some of the survivors of the shipwreck were Maltese dogs that mated with the local terriers, creating a new and unique breed.

3) In cases where your beauceron continues to behave poorly, snap at the canine in the fashion a beauceron. In other words a short bursting growl followed by a snapping of your teeth.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the smallest dog on record was a yorkshire terrier in Great Britain who, at the age of 2, weighed just 4 ounces. However, the chihuahua is generally the smallest breed of dog.

Amongst DOG trainers, the emulation of DOGS is the subject of great controversy. Most beaucerons will not outgrow poor behavior without the guidance of rules. Many trainers consider it a negative form of discipline to act like a canine to enforce discipline. However, other DOG advocates consider it an effective way to demonstrate authority without raising one's voice.

Other trainers recommend discouraging poor behavior by giving a beauceron a sniff. Since it demonstrates that the owner is the elder or alpha, it can catch your beauceron or puppy off guard and make them aware that is the subordinate.

Dandie Dinmont is a fictional character in Sir Walter Scott's "Guy Mannering", published in 1814. The main character had mustard and pepper terriers. Although Dandie Dinmont dogs were in existence for many years previously, it is this character that gave the breed their name.
